Onboarding & Induction Design

Onboarding is the first impression and the first compliance exposure. I design induction as an experience and a control at the same time — coordinated IT, benefits, and team touchpoints — so the new hire feels welcomed and the organization stays 100% compliant.

The Workflow — How I Approach It

1

Design the experience, not just the forms

A day-one journey with a schedule — not a stack of paperwork.

2

Complete compliance documents early

I-9, W-4, and new-hire paperwork done before or at day one.

3

Coordinate IT, benefits, and team

One accountable owner — no dropped balls between departments.

4

Set 30/60/90 follow-ups

Onboarding ends when the hire is productive — not on day five.

5

Measure compliance and experience

100% complete documents, plus welcome feedback that tells the truth.

My Operating View — The 2 Cents

Compliance and welcome aren’t in tension. My 2 cents: if the process makes employees feel managed-by-forms, it’s also more likely to be managed-wrong. Build one system that protects the organization and makes the new hire feel coordinated — the two reinforce each other.

What Worked & What Didn’t

What Worked

  • Compliance and welcome delivered together — 100% complete, genuinely welcoming.
  • Coordinated IT, benefits, and team touchpoints — no dropped handoffs.

What Didn’t

  • The “pile of forms” onboarding — chaotic, and compliance gaps hid in it.
  • Handoffs between departments — documents and the new hire both got lost.
